Actor Turned Photographer

Me as Horse

A show I did at the College of DuPage called The Velveteen Rabbit

I started acting when I was in the 6th grade.  My first play was called Hickory Dickory Dock….you know, like the nursery rhyme…..but extended.  It opened my world to theater and being on the stage!  From that moment I was hooked.  I went on to doing speeches and plays all throughout junior high, high school, and college.  I even manage to do a handful of professional shows in Chicago as I became more of an adult.  However, even though I had enough confidence in myself to be successful as an actor, I didn’t have enough confidence in the entertainment industry.  I didn’t believe that it would provide me with the financial stability I needed to do the things that I wanted to do like, raise a family, buy a home, etc.  So I entered the IT world as a primary means of finances with the intent to keep acting on the side.  Besides, acting will never go away because it is in my blood.  Nevertheless, I realized that the IT world was becoming mundane and I couldn’t see myself sitting in front of a monitor for the rest of my life, troubleshooting other peoples technical issues.  That’s when I went to my second favorite hobby and decided to turn that into my primary means of finances….and that’s Photography!  I picked up photography in high school as the school’s newspaper photographer.  I realized that I had an eye for the art of photography at that time but never invested in my own equipment to take it any further, that is until the recession hit in 2008.  The following year in 2009, I was let go from an IT job as a business analyst for a company that I had been with for 5 years.  It was then that I bought a Canon 50D (which I still use today), and started a small business called Logan Images.  I realize later on that I needed to start networking with others in my field so I enrolled in school at the College of DuPage where I currently am now.  AND I AM LOVING IT!!!  I have been through a lot as I’ve tried to find my niche in life, but I am grateful for the journey and where it has landed me at the present moment.  I still have a ways to go as far as my photography but I can see the maturation in my craft and am excited for the future!!!

Until the next blog….
